The Philharmonic bulding is located in the heart of the city of Szczecin in the northwest of Poland. The building project was created by the Spanish studio Barozzi Veiga, which received the European Union award in the field of architecture Mies van der Rohe Award 2015.
Inside the building, there are two concert halls, designed for acoustic quality and more precise sounding of musical instruments. While the bends of the spiral staircase connect all the rooms inside the Philharmonic.
The snow-white construction was built on the site of the concert hall, destroyed during the Second World War. The modern form enhances the contrast with the historical part of the city, creating a feeling of stratification. A translucent glass facade and a non-standard roof profile give an unusual texture to the architectural object: there is a visual illusion as if several buildings are connected before the eyes. At night, the Philharmonic is highlighted by a warm, slightly diffused light.
